Academic Transcripts and Certificates
Obtaining certificates and transcripts from Iran can be challenging. Typically, an unofficial temporary certificate in Persian is issued to students upon graduation and indicates the number of credits earned as well as a student’s average grade (moadel) at the end of the program. It is particularly difficult for male students age 18 and older to have their academic documents released due to the compulsory military service in Iran. Iranian students applying to academic programs abroad will have their academic transcripts and certificates translated into English, photocopied, and then certified and stamped by the Iranian Ministry of Justice. · Institutional Recognition: Legitimate Iranian universities are recognized by the Iranian Ministry of Education and operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Sciences & Technology, the Ministry of Health & Sciences for medical schools, or the Ministry of Justice for law schools.
· Document Verification: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice stamps on an official translated document do not indicate the authenticity of the original document; rather they only verify the accuracy of the translation from the original Persian to English. Although, ministries are familiar with these documents and would likely not stamp an evident forgery, they stamp and sign the translation only to officially confirm the correctness of the translation.
